The Maryland Twisters take great pride in our Special Needs cheer program. Organized in 2002, Eye of the Storm was the very first Twister cheer team for special needs athletes. The team provides special needs athletes the opportunity to compete in their own division along side their peers at all-star cheerleading venues. They perform an all-star routine just like any other team, choreographed with stunting, tumbling and dance.

Eye of the Storm has earned many national titles over the last 8 seasons. In fact in 2007 they were the very first NCA winners in the Special Needs division! The following year they returned to Dallas to defend their title and came back 2008 NCA Back to Back National Champions! Eye of the Storm recently won the 2011 Cheersport National Championships. Thanks to the diligence of the coaching staff and support from the program, Maryland Twisters has one of the most decorated Special Needs divisions in the country! The team competes and travels the same schedule as the Maryland Twisters travel teams.

Our program quickly grew and in 2007, Storm Chasers was formed to show our continuing dedication to special needs athletes in our area with interests in cheerleading. Storm Chasers is for younger aged athletes. The team performs at approximately five area competitions each season.

There is absolutely no tryout for either team. Please come and join the Twisters family!
